Re: 1.8t swap

Now this is going to cost some serious money. Your talking about taking an
EFI engine from one manufacturer and wiring it another make of car. The
Monster Miata with Ford 5.0's cost about $10,000 to convert properly just
to give you an idea. Complete 5.0 engines (wiring harness, alternators and
all) are a dime a dozen, T5's aren't .

Then there's the issue of making engine mounts for the T5, that's IF it can
fit. Keep in mind the VR6 fits because its so damm narrow. Then you have to
mate the transmission to the engine, are you going to use the VW or Volvo ?
Some more mounting points to deal with. Custom clutch possibly . If
you've got the cash to install a T5 (and since the car is free) spend your
bucks on a turbo system with the VR6 . Tear down the engine and install
strengthened rods and pistons. Choose a turbo that suits your needs. You'll
get better super reliable results at less cost AND headaches. There are
already turbo systems available for purchase as kits out there.
