Re: Fw: [Celtics' Stuff from hero to goat

BTW I'm also not so sure you and Cecil are right that most people on the list
look on Paul as an unqualified good thing. My guess would be that a lot are
with me in the middle, seeing both virtues and faults in Paul's play and
actions. Sorta like Walker or the 3 point shot itself. God I hate that shot.
>> Kim

That's a fairly reasonable position, Kim, but I've read enough posts to know
that PP has held "hands off" status as the most improved player, top scorer,
most minutes, fourth qtr savior, etc that folks feel he can only get better.
I've only tried to point out that, even as his stats INCREASE, he's not
improving as much as a player and teammate as he is deteriorating.

His passing has improved and he's turning it over less against the Foreigns.
The other issues that have been exposed are that he can stifle a team, and
that unity and flow suffer. While it looks on the surface that scoring is
easier when he's on the court, I contend that he sets a tone and style that
hurts the flow nearly all the time.

I'm not saying that you have to condemn him to be "agreeing" with me. I just
want folks to see what I see--that Pierce's development is coming at the
expense of the team and the net result may not be a good thing. Is he growing
in a POSITIVE way for the Celts? I say no. He's not evil, and I don't hate
him. I am astounded that he's defended so fiercely, especially when the stats
are tossed up.

The subject will continue to be debated as he's the most dynamic guy on the
team. Doesn't mean that's a good thing, either.
