Re: Fw: [Celtics' Stuff from hero to goat

Ok, Cecil.

If you want evidence that Tammo's been identified, and willingly, I believe, as a
woman, I'll try to go back to some posts of two years ago when the subject came up. I
don't mean any disrespect that she's a woman; gender is irrelevant. What the issue
was and remains is that she has discussed the emotional constitution of players and
draft prospects from a perspective that can only be described as "maternal", and I
don't believe it's relevant to the discussion of a player's skills, unless we have the
same input on all possible prospects. Players need to be evaluated on a level playing
field if they're introduced to the board for discussion., IMO.

I never meant to misquote Mr. Hill; I may have been confused by the quotes in his post
and took them to be his. I'll generally post with quotes ASAP to keep the thread
current.

As to Mr. Bird, I called him Mother because he was writing on behalf of the board and
protecting something that he defined as his to protect. The Larry Joe reference was a
response to a topic I can't recall, but I'll apologize and refrain from nicknames.

The team was ostensibly all black, as Raef and Collison were non-factors in the games
or series. Makes no difference to me, and I won't get into racial issues related to
the style of play.

I hope I've responded to the issues that Cecil brought up. I'm not here to attack or
divide the board, I just want to see quality players on the team trying to rebuild a
proud franchise. More has been written on the failings of the Dunk and 3pt shot as
the mainstays of American hoop this week than I've ever seen. That's not the kind of
basketball that made the Celtics the World Champs and most respected franchise in the
league, and although the game has changed, the Celts fandom--from what I've been
reading for 3 years--still looks for a cerebral, unselfish team rather than a group of
talented one-on-one stars paid to entertain on individual merits.

That's what I fear may be missing from the folks who just look at the W-L record of a
team that played healthy in an injury-ridden conference last year. The emperor has
some clothes, but they're scanty.
