Warning! Important to Read if You Have an Audio System..

Well, the unthinkable finally happened. I was at a local mall at 3pm last
Tu and while I was in Macys' for 1/2 hour, two black adults (according to
an eyewitness) smashed my non-drivers front window and stole my entire
stereo system. Yes, the alarm was going off and no, nobody even bothered
to write down their plate number as they took off. I am writing for two
important reasons:

******1) No matter who your insurance company is, and even though you have
receipts for all your stereo components, the only thing covered is anything
that replaces a stock component (i.e.-if it had a deck and changer from the
factory and you replaced them with a deck and changer, they would be
covered). NO ADDITIONAL ITEMS ARE COVERED INCLUDING AMPS AND SUBS UNLESS
YOU HAVE A RIDER ON YOUR POLICY!!!!!! Don't wait to find out the hard way
like I just have. It will cost me about $12 - $34 a year depending on what
I put back in the car, but none of my other things that were just stolen
are currently being covered. From what I can see, no major insurance
company will cover a full system without a rider. PLEASE CHECK IT OUT!

2) Take the time to lock your rear seatbacks. They lock with your ignition
key and it makes the trunk almost impossible to get into. I only have had
my Jetta GLX 3 1/2 weeks and I did not even know they locked and now I wish
I did. It has been a major hassle just to deal with the police and
insurance etc. so if I can put someone else wise to these two things I will
feel a lot better.

'95 GLX glad I have a Teutonics to listen to since I don't have a system
edition

P.S.- The replacement rubber/metal window trim from VW (called the frame)
appears to be a matte finish, but the other three on the car seem almost
like they are painted gloss black. VW only has 1 part number. Anyone know
what gives? It is defiantly the wrong one......
