hard water spots

The other day someone asked about hard water spots on glass and someone (sorry
I don't remember who it was) mentioned that they spent about 20 hours getting
the spots off the car's paint.   My car has some spotting and I'd like to take
care of it before it gets much worse, has anyone found an easier way to do it?
I dont' have 20 hours to spend patiently scrubbing, so any advice would be
greatly appreciated.
