Re: Maybe Pitino Was Right

We offered him 4 yrs $28M and he passed on it.  His agent was looking for Walker type numbers and thought he could get it on the market which after being traded several times he found out was not the case. The Bulls after losing out on O'neal ,Eddie Jones and everyone else they were after ended up pretty much spending money on the only athletic free agent that would consider them, which as crappy as they are, to me pretty much show Ron is in it solely for the $$$. Why else would you sign with the crappiest team in the league? Maybe he thought Michael & Scottie were still there ?

I am not saying they could not help us, but I don't think they could at what Mercer was asking. I would take Pierce over Mercer any day.

As for Billups, there a lot of guys that can play both the guard positions, we have some on our team. Playing them well is a different issue. Billups was really better suited for the 2 spot but I don't ever remember us playing him there. He made too many mistakes at the point.

I am not saying I wouldn't take Chauncy over Anderson at their current salaries, but I seem to recall most on the list, including myself, being pretty damn happy when Anderson first came and in his first games. We thought we had the floor leader we needed, unfortunately it only lasted about 5 games !

You would think a guy making $10M a year and riding the pine would be pretty embarrassed when he is being outplayed by a guy like Milt Palacio, but most really don't care today they still get paid. Hey Washington moved Howard at $20M a year, I guess anything is possible!

Did Chicago pay Mercer the max. No, and for your information Mercer is averaging 19.5 ppg, shooting 44.1%, 82.1% from FT line, 3.2  apg and 3.8 rpg. These are fairly impressive averages at SG..so what was that argument about shooting bricks.

Billups is a durable player who can play both guard positions and can defend very well which can hardly be said about Anderson. I would rather have him than watch KA steal money.

Yeah Billups and Mercer have really taken their teams to a higher level!

Imagine Mercer with the C's at the max for the next 5-6 years, damn we already have one brick tossin overpaid player why would we need 2 ?

And Billups a point that like Anderson average 3- 4 assists a game.

Ouch.

We would also have been better had he not traded away Billups & Mercer. Also, if he had fired himself at the begining of the season, we would have been a lock for the playoffs. - Mishra

Remember when Pitino was really interested in
trading Walker for Mashburn and Brown, and how
so many people bashed the deal. Well, looking at things
as they are now, you probably have to say, that Pitino
knew what he was doing. The C's with a rejuvenated
Mashburn, and Brown providing low post defense
and rebounding would be a stronger team than they
are now with Toine.
