Postgame thoughts

Whew. I am still worn out watching that game...hope you all enjoyed it.
It's all over ABC's World News This Morning FWIW.

Celtics need to play better from the starting gate. I have said this
before, but these lousy first quarters have got to stop. They come out
and shoot 15-20% from the floor or something. And it's not just quick
perimeter jumpers. Somebody got a count on how many blown layups we've
had so far this year? The passes are often being made, but they can't
finish the play, to quote the Cooz.

Don't write off Kenny Anderson just yet. Yes, he needs to get his act
together, but he showed heart last night playing both hurt and
exhausted. I do wish he'd concentrate on passing more than these quick
shots he keeps throwing up.

Free throws? Ick. First of all, notice how many more FTs the opponent
seems to be getting? Two answers: 1) Pitino-ball, and 2) too many
young guys who won't get breaks from the refs. Second game in a row
that there was a huge disparity in free throws. Then, the guys have to
make them! It sickens me to see Big Country toss in 14 of 14 (or
whatever he hit) from the line and see Toine clank one after another.
Very rarely does any Celtic hit two for two from the line anymore.

Rebounds...better as the game wore on, but still we're too small. I
insist that Popeye has to step up here and be the next Paul Silas like
we all think he can be...Pitino isn't giving Popeye the PT he needs,
maybe he's still healing up...I think DeClercq gets far too little
credit...but we still need more bounds, especially on the offensive
side,

Maturity...last night's game was a definite shot in the arm on that
point. Even though Vancouver is no NBA hoss, it was still a great win
for the guys...this was a throwback to some of the great Bruins playoff
OT games of the 1970s, all I could think of was "whoever has the most
balls is going to win this game". The Celtics showed some great guts
last night, and hung in there until the game was finally won.

On to the Rip City!
