Re: The Boston Celtics Mailing List Digest V4 #4

Someone posted an article which said the C's could be
mathamatically eliminated from the playoffs in two weeks. Some of these
sports' writers really need to think before they write. Assuming the C's
have seven games in the next two weeks and lose all of them, they will be
6-30. Thus they could theoretically still get 52 wins and easily make the
playoffs.
	I know it's just a technicality but I can't stand it when
columnists use hyperbole in their articles just to sound like they know
everything.
Moving on, obviously your not going to find any C's fans who think
trading Dee for Augmon is a bad idea. They key is whether or not Detroit
will pull the trigger. Since it hasn't happened yet, I imagine it was an
offer that M.L. made and Doug Collins (or whoever calls the shots in
Detroit) decided to pass on or at least explore other alternatives first.
The Kendall Gill scenario is very intriguing. He would really
solidfy the C's at the two spot. He's more of an impact player than Day
or Minor.. I would favor trading Fox/Williams and Minor for Gill
especially if we get Augmon. The only thing is New Jersey is probably
receiving more attractive offers from other teams. (I doubt Calipari is
thinking "If I only I could get my hands on Rick Fox, then I could build a
solid contender.")
Here comes another version of the most popular question on the
list these days: Does anyone know what Gill's contract is like?

Draft note: Victor Page (Iverson's former backcourt mate at
Georgetown) just had back to back 30 point games. He's starting to look
like a late lottery (ie Dallas) pick. Of course he's only a sophomore,
but if he keeps this up I think he'll come out.

A belated happy new year everyone,
Jeremy
