And, a final gloat ... visited a used book/record store here in Dallas
and found "Whistle Rhymes" in near-mint condition for $3! Also found
two OOP Dickey Betts LP's in similar shape.

Rich,
Your story brings back memories. Back in the fall of '79, I was
starting my doomed attendance at Trenton State College (now "University").
They had a gift shop in the Student Center, that had a good number of
sealed lps -- cutouts -- at great prices, of course. I went down there,
and poking thru this pile of mostly bad stuff (ya know, linda ronstadt,
olivia newton john, little river band ....!!), I came across 2 of what I
consider to be one of my luckiest finds -- a sealed copy of "Whistle Rhymes",
and a sealed copy of "Rigor Mortis Sets In" !! Two dollars apiece!!
At the time, I was on a VERY heavy Who kick, having just bought the 2
dbl-lp sets "My Generation/Magic Bus", & "A Quick One/Sell Out", and also
a number of assorted UK singles (Join Together, Let's See Action) & US
singles (Relay, Call Me Lightning). I was a *WHO FREAK* !!!! I scarfed
up those 2 Entwistle solo lp's, and played the "livin' sh*t" out of 'em.
Recently pulled them out again, and they have held up well, although I
SURE WOULD LOVE TO SEE THEM RELEASED ON CD, MCA....(hint).
Oh well, enough babbling.

        gary.
