A new Moon has risen

I think I mentioned it before.. On the Muff's 2nd CD, just out, called Blonder
and Blonder (a derogatory reference to Courtney Love - long story...), has
a song called Sad Tomorrow, and the new drummer, Roy MacDonald, absolutely
shreds it up on this one. The other songs don't have the room for him to
expand, but this one hits it on the spot. The sound is like Moon, but more
solid. He has the classic drum intro at the end of the breaks, great smooth
sound, heavy use of triplets, heavy use of cymbals. This guy is the best out
there now. He'd have been an absolutely goddam perfect fit for the Who had
he been born about fifteen years earlier. So, yes Virginia, the Moon replace-
ments ARE out there, they ALWAYS have been, they ALWAYS will be. It's just a
matter of effort to find 'em. This guy will only get better. Let's just
hope the material supports his drumming style more. If he's not at Moon's level on record, I'm sure he is live. I will be damned sure to check this guy out
live when they come through town. This song is on MTV now. Probably check
it out on Alternative Nation after B&B. Guy looks a bit like Moon, and even
yells into the drum breaks as did Moon. I've listened to this song about
40 times and have yet become bored by it. Infinitely better than all the
lame efforts on all the drum solos on Under a Raging Moon put together and
taken to the power of 3. He has hit the nail on the head. All rightey then...
