Define "butchers." I happened to think her *version* was strong, heartfelt,
full of passion, and *not* an attempt to ape Roger. What exactly is the
point of a cover version which sounds exactly like the original? I think
we've heard this discussion here before: Did the Who "butcher" Summertime
Blues? Dancing in the Street? Under My Thumb? The Last Time? Shakin' All
Over? Eyesight to the Blind? Batman? Barbara Ann? I'm a Man? Twist &
Shout?

None of these could be construed to be "faithful" renditions of the originals.
I would assume that most folks here aren't offended by them; yet I can betcha
that, at the time of their release, some fans of the originals were put off
by these versions which "butchered" the originals. I also betcha that these
same listeners, given the passage of time and increased maturity, grew to
appreciate the Who's versions as well as the originals.
