Re: Who's got Stones

Well, it happens. People find *Pete Townshend* attractive, too.

I don't hear it. I mean, he sounds older. His voice isn't perfect.
But I think you're being way too critical. The guy takes care of his
voice. He sees throat specialists, he does vocal warm-ups before
shows,.... I don't think he sounds *that* bad. You could make the
same argument against Daltrey, for that matter. There may be some
dude on a Stones list, right now, saying The Who suck 'cause Daltrey's
vocals have been horrible since 1982.

Sure, I believe that. But what's wrong with that game-plan? I know
Mick & Co. enjoy their wealth. Just like I know Pete & Rog enjoy theirs.
But if you're gonna be a band, then *be* a band. Like the Stones. Don't
approach it in a half-assed manner like The Who. Be a goddamned working
band or quit completely.

The half-assed Who has given me some special moments, sure. However,
I'm a Who-Freak. But what are they contributing to Rock & Roll? And
don't be so quick to dismiss that question. Pete holds Rock & Roll in
high regard. He knows its power; what it can do; the positive effects
it can induce; what a rock band can achieve; how a rock band can help
people.

> Both bands live off of their old material.

The Who rehearse 20 songs for a tour. The Stones rehearse 100 - 200.
You do see the difference, right?

Yippee!

How about this: I'll take the recent RAH set-list & let you know what
can be dropped.

Who Are You - Keep it. It's one of the mainstays.

I Can't Explain - Drop it. Make some room for new material.

Substitute - Drop it.

Anyway Anyhow Anywhere - Drop it.

Baba O'Riley - Keep it. A mainstay.

Behind Blue Eyes - Drop it. Really, who would miss it?

5.15 - Jesus, drop it.

Sea and Sand - Drop it.

Love Reign O'er Me - Drop this horrible live song.

Eminence Front - Drop it. Who would care?

You Better You Bet - Drop it. Who would care?

Real Good Looking Boy - Keep it. New song.

The Kid's Are Alright - Drop it.

My Generation / Old Red Wine - Drop MG. Keep ORW.

Won't Get Fooled Again - Keep it. A mainstay.

Pinball Wizard - Keep it. A mainstay.

Amazing Journey / Sparks - Time to drop it.

See Me Feel Me / Listening To You - Keep it. A mainstay.

There. I cleared *eleven* songs from the set-list, leaving some choice
"hits." Now, fill those eleven slots with some rarities & maybe some
*minor* hits & you'll have a fresh, exciting, *new* set-list.
