Yes, I'm hoping it's the speaker and not a design flaw.  The dealer is getting
me a replacement (should be here by Wed.) and hopefully that'll fix it... Yes,
I do mean the speaker in the door.

 I'm assuming you mean the speaker in the door, right?  Mine has the exact
 same symptoms you described.  I thought I blew it out.  I will be asking for
 a replacement when I go in for my 5K mile service.
