The sound system is a very subjective thing. I find my stock stereo system
quite adequate, but then I don't go blasting it very loud, so I don't need
more power. I also don't listen to a lot of rap with tone bass, so the low
ends are fine for me.

On the other hand, if you're a more sophisticated listener, you will want
to upgrade the system. I suggest you go to your local dealer, find a
Wolfsburg Jetta on the lot (meaning you *know* it has CD installed in it)
and let the salesperson you want to take it for a test drive-- and pull out
your favorite CD.

Sit in the car, and listen to it with the engine off, and drive the car
around the block and listen to the stereo while driving around. If you like
it, great! Otherwise, you may want to upgrade. I didn't.
