Treffen '98 Report

Just got back from Treffen '98 in Chicago..  This was a great show!

I haven't seen any stats on the number of attendees/particpants, but I would
guess there was ~150 cars in the show, and many,many more in the parking
lot. Tons of A3 Jettas, A3 GTIs, Corrados, a bunch of A2 & A1 cars.  There
were about 6 or 7 NewBeetles, a handful of Passats and even a few Audis.
Although the show was mostly watercooled, there were about 6 Vintage Bugs,
and even a VW Thing!

The show was very well attended, and everyone had a great time.  Lots and
lots of dealers (Emmons, New Dimensions, AWE, + more) were a few of the
standouts.

They also held the "Corrado Rush", which was an attempt to gather the most
Corrados in one location ever.  The unofficial number I heard was 93, and
they all assembled for a group aerial photo.

Jetta content:

I think the coolest Jetta I saw was a Black 97 TDI with Votex round
headlights and a grill with 2 more round driving lights.  I didn't catch the
owners name, but it was definitely a standout.

Can't wait til next year!
