$350 sounds about like what I'd expect to see charged around here.. $600 ought to 
include a freakin' blowjob!!  In Palm Springs!!  GEEZES!!!

Either figure is a damn ripoff.  Look at what gets done!!?  Just about nothing!  New 
plugs, oil and filter, twang a few belts to make sure they don't fall off, LONG list of 
"checks" (yeah right, like they even bother to check anyways!), kick the tires and send 
you on your way with a huge bill.  No valve adjustment, coolant flush/change, etc.. it's 
not on the menu.  This doesn't keep dealers (or most independents) from charging an 
arm and a leg for 30/60/90k services 'cause we should "expect" to pay through the 
nose at these intervals.  Arrgh...............
