Re: VR6 whine

The whine is perfectly normal at startup.  It is a emissions control
thing.  Because the car is cold at startup the gas is not burned
completely.  Some of the air is recycled back into the intake.  Don't
worry, all our cars do it on the cold morning.  Hell my Chevy truck does
the same thing.  The definition is not mine, just what was giving to me
by a friend who is (soon to be was) a mechanic at a VW dealership in san
diego.  It's those damn emission controls!
