I've been thinking about Hunter and some people's proclamation that he is a
dud, most noticeably Forant.

Think about it. Hunter basically did not play at all in the first half of
the year. So throw that out. He finally gets a chance to start and show what
he has and he ends up with 4 or 5 real solid games in a row. We are talking
double-double type of games. The first game he sort of struggled in was the
Minnesota game. After that, Carroll seemed to lose all faith in him, because
of that one game. His minutes were drastically cut, to the point that he now
is receiving mostly dnp-cd's.

So my question is... does this guy get any type of leeway for rookie
mistakes? No one is claiming he is perfect. But he has great teqnique, he
knows how to box out, has a very quick first step, knows how to use his
body, and appears to be a very heady player. But he is still a rookie who
has only played quality minutes in 5 or 6 games this year. He played great
in all except for one.

Remember how Marcus seemed to get every shot blocked earlier in the year
when he drove to the basket? You don't see that happen anymore. Rookies make
mistakes. They learn from them. I think Brandon is smart enough to learn
from his mistakes, if given a chance.

This is not a case like Kedrick or Jerome where a player just obviously does
not 'get it'. This clearly appears to be a case of a player who does 'get
it', but is a rookie and has made normal rookie mistakes and has a normal
rookie learning curve. I guess i'd just like to hear from those who say
Brandon is a dud..... What exactly makes you think that? What has he done
in his 5 or 6 quality minute games to show you that he absolutely can't
play?
