   I hope Davis can turn into an alpha dog; can a younger player be the alpha 
to an older player's beta?  Hope so.
   One thing that is interesting about all this is that I sure don't recall 
an instance of a management team deciding that a good team has peaked out and 
blowing it up.  Usually good teams just slowly get better or worse.  Is there a 
parallel for a team making the playoffs two years in a row and then being 
dismantled because management felt it had peaked?  Lord knows there are plenty of 
teams (Indiana comes to mind; Milwaukee lingered mid-pack for years) that 
were very good teams, but both then sort of faded a bit - they weren't 
dismantled.  Can anyone think of a parallel to what's going on in Boston?  Sort of like 
a boxer getting the crap beat out of him and realizing he isn't going to win 
the fight, so why not quit and go back to the gym.
