I hope Davis can turn into an alpha dog; can a younger player be the alpha
to an older player's beta? Hope so.
One thing that is interesting about all this is that I sure don't recall
an instance of a management team deciding that a good team has peaked out and
blowing it up. Usually good teams just slowly get better or worse. Is there a
parallel for a team making the playoffs two years in a row and then being
dismantled because management felt it had peaked? Lord knows there are plenty of
teams (Indiana comes to mind; Milwaukee lingered mid-pack for years) that
were very good teams, but both then sort of faded a bit - they weren't
dismantled. Can anyone think of a parallel to what's going on in Boston? Sort of like
a boxer getting the crap beat out of him and realizing he isn't going to win
the fight, so why not quit and go back to the gym.
