Re: the undermining man

A "coach" could have integrated players into the rotation if he wanted too.
They are Pro's, it's not like they were picked up from the loading dock.

>But there are many other factors as well responsible for Obie's actions.

You have that correct, did he know the Phili job was going to open up before
it was announced and wanted to get his name in line, which he couldn't have
done while under a multi year contract or have to give up a draft pick to be
released from that contract or risk a tampering charge by Phili management?

If he knew he was leaving, did he want to give a assistant coach a 1/2
season shot like he did?

Sounds pretty well manipulated by Obiewon.

First he wasn't hired to manage their company, he was hired to manage one
department. He was given directions on the style of management he was to
exercise. He chose not to.

But to look at your question another way, how can a coach insult his bosses
by refusing to manage the team the way he was directed to and continue to
work? It goes both ways. If OB was doing what he was asked there wouldn't
have been a need for "different" coaching by the boss. That seems to be the
whole issue.

Having watched OB speak after games, you should add him to your list above.
