I doubt the IOC wants to bring up terrorism and Greece's ability to defend
same.

Why? It gets brought up continually, including by the Greeks themselves, so it's not like it's putting ideas in peoples' minds. And if you mean out of delicacy, you have just GOT to be kidding...

The common sense for this "competition" is protecting yourself as best as
possible. If having beds that fit and private bathrooms is considered to
much comfort by some, well to each their own I guess. Other NBA players
from other countries are opting out as well. The whole process should be
true non-pro's as far as I'm concerned. When you have pros like Barkley
"representing" you, who wants these guys there anyway?

The whole thing should have always been true non-pros. But having brought them in while trying to justify it/get the PR benefit that it's because they're really just the best players competing HERE as amateurs because it's 'for their country' not for pay, they're also trying to have it both ways by insulating them from every aspect of competing here as amateurs. Even as other pros there (other teams, other competitions) genuinely DO share things with the true amateurs. Snoopy's right about that part and the messages that they send in all this. And that's without getting into Sir Charles or anyone else's individual behavior, which had nothing to do with his point or mine. That's why I suggested they'd have been better off using a security justification that has some credibility without being as much of a "just because we can" and "we're worth it and you're not" in your face.
