Could It Be Vitaly And Barry?

A bit of an impasse with trading for Brent Barry.

Seattle wants more than Chris Mills and the Dallas draft pick isn't
more enough.

Ainge wants to hold on to the Celtics pick, because there will be some
prime high-school and foreign prospects available to the team. You
could be looking at high-schoolers like Al Jefferson, LaMarcus Bradford,
and Randolph Morris, and International types like Uros Slokar,
Tiago Splitter, Erazem Lorbek, Sergei Monya, Andre Biedrins, etc.
With the possibility of an Age Limit imposed for future drafts, there
should be a lot of high-schoolers and International Players in this draft.

So, methinks a compromise will have to be reached, for any trade to occur.

You have to ask yourself, what do the Supersonics truly need?

And the answer is a center upgrade.

If the Celtics aren't willing to give up their own pick, the other
possibility is for them to give up either Blount or Mihm and take back one of the
Seattle's big men in the deal.

For instance, you could do:

Potapenko and Barry for Blount, Stewart, Mills and the Dallas pick.

The Celtics are looking for a widebody after all, and in a non-Jim O'Brien system,
Potapenko could be an offensive option.. And Mihm, Perkins, and LaFrentz
will be around to act as shot-blockers, negating Vitaly's defensive lapses.
Besides Pot's contract is up after next season, so he's trade bait next year.
