It's called "off the record" and it happens all the time. It allows reporters 
to get the true story without allowing a direct quotation. The writer of the 
Herald piece clearly intended for the reader to interpret that Walker thought 
Baker should play more. If you choose to conclude something else because you 
believe otherwise, that is your prerogative...

   That's exactly my point.  It seems to me it's the Herald doing the 
 spinning.
 What does "reportedly" and "private circles" mean exactly?  It could mean 
 almost anything.
 Reported to whom, by whom?  Private circles meaning Antoine's friends and 
 relatives?  Off the record comments to reporters?  Or people actually in the 
 organization?  >>
