Well, I talked with my friend in Dallas and she pretty much echoed
what the
Dallas News article said.
She called his work ethic "horrible".

----------------------------------------------------------------

Yikes!, I wish Ainge had seen Perkins in a game situation firsthand
before giving the o.k. to draft him. His decision was based on seeing
an impressive build, willingness to take instruction in a short workout,
and basically trusting Papile that Perkins can play. Any reports on
horrible work ethic are pretty important.

Papile gave overblown praise to Blount, Sundov, JJ, Chris Herren, and
Rick Brunson, just because they played on or against his team in high
school. That's his problem, he falls in love with someone who plays a
good high school game and can't tell that they'll be bad NBA players.
So he could be wrong leading Ainge to Kendrick.

I don't believe Perkins is 6'10" in bare feet like Bulpett reported.
James Lang measured 6' 8.25" in bare feet at the official Chicago camp
measurements. Perkins looked exactly the same height as they stood at a
freethrow sideline.

But I want believe in Perkins, so looked for some positives. He can
actually run the court north-south quickly. Can pass to cutters, bang
with people, and has the same body type as Mike Sweetney(who's also not
explosive, yet is very effective/efficient). His high school coach
tried to pattern Kendrick's game after Shaquille.
