Pierce and Stojakovic earn Player of the Week honors

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Boston's Paul Pierce and Sacramento's
Peja Stojakovic  were named  Eastern and Western Conference Players of
the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, December 8 through
Sunday, December 14.

 

Pierce helped the Celtics to a 4-0 record last week, as he averaged
31.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists.

He collected 36 points and 14 rebounds in a win over Seattle on
December 10 and netted a season-high 41 points in a 105-98 victory at
Cleveland on December 13.  It marked his 15th career 40-point effort.

Stojakovic averaged 28.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists, as the
Kings went 3-0 for the week.

He had 26 points and four rebounds in a win over the Clippers on
December 9 and then poured in 36 points and handed out five assists in
a victory over Phoenix on December 14.

Other candidates for Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week
were Indiana's Ron Artest, the Clippers' Corey Maggette, Miami's Lamar
Odom, Minnesota's Kevin Garnett, New Orleans' Baron Davis, Orlando's
Tracy McGrady and San Antonio's Manu Ginobili.
