ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Orlando Magic added two guards
Monday, signing free agents Corey Benjamin and Omar Cook.

Terms were not disclosed.

Cook played in 35 games last season with Fayetteville of
the National Basketball Development League, averaging
12.2 points, 7.8 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 31.6 minutes.
He was named to the 2001-02 All-NBDL Second Team after
leading the league in assists, ranked seventh in steals
and ninth in 3-point field goal percentage (38 percent).
Cook also set a league record for most assists in a game,
19 on Feb. 8 against North Charleston.

Originally selected in the second round of the 2001 draft
by the Magic, Cook was traded on draft night to the
Denver Nuggets for a future first round draft pick.

Cook was waived by the Nuggets on Oct. 25, then signed as
a free agent by the Dallas Mavericks a month later. The
Mavericks waived the 6-1 guard on Dec. 28, but Cook
signed with the Boston Celtics on April 17.

Cook, 20, played one season at St. John's before
declaring for the draft. After averaging 15.3 points, 8.7
assists and 3.0 rebounds per game for the Red Storm, he
was named to the Third Team All-Big East team in 2000-01
and was a unanimous selection for the Big East All-Rookie
Team.

Cook finished second in NCAA Division I in assists, and
broke the school record for most assists in a game with
17 against Stony Brook.
