Concatenated Comments

Fellow Listers,

I've been out of the loop since late last week because my phone went out and my phone company (Sprint), at least here, are borderline incompetents. (Just say no to dial-up, people. Just say no.) So I thought to include all my pent-up comments in one post for easy ignoring and the like. Here goes.

Someone asked (Shawn, I think) if people can be kicked off the list. I believe I can answer a resounding "yes" to that. If someone feels any lister is a disruptive force or deserves discipline, the thing to do (as per decree) is to inform the List Imperator of it. His email addy is pmm@igtc.com. I'm sure he doesn't want to be inundated with this sort of thing from his lists, but perhaps individual listers will think it necessary. Perhaps those listers feel that the list itself shouldn't have to deal with those disruptive forces, to begin with. Anyway, that's the system.

As for virii, I have a facetious comment and a real one. All you wintel users could switch over to a UNIX box, you know. The number of UNIX virii are in single digits, I think; I believe wintel virii number in the hundreds of thousands. Of course, you could also use a good anti-virus program, which is probably less drastic. However, the more users of a platform, the more chance of virus. Secondly, people whose machines are infected with a computer virus and refuse to do anything about it are acting irresponsibly and are potentially endangering everyone whose email address they are in possession of. At best it's callous, and at worst, it's malicious.

Private email is just that: private. It's not cool to be sending it to the list.

How about we discontinue dogging people for not making predictions (yet, or even ever)? It has no relevance that I can see.

I agree with Jim Hill about the trial-related subject. I mention it because I think he'd be surprised; I was. But his comment about the best and worst thing about the US is right on. (That is to say, I agree.) It would be best if people could feel free to tell the truth in court; that's how it's supposed to be, but judging people by how things "ought" to be instead of how they really are sort of negates the difference between the two states, and that's dangerous, imo. Though we'd probably all like to see those who commit violent assault be punished/rehabilitated/segregated, what's most important for Paul Pierce is to get all with his life and not let the cowardly assault on his person eclipse the rest of it.

It's "Tommy" Adams, not "Tony", isn't it? Not that it matters much. He's not going to be around for very long. Though it is gratifying to see the C's bring in a pg for training camp, if only to foster competition for the spot. Maybe it'll make whoever ends up with big minutes at the position better. Probably won't have a big effect, but it's still nice to see.

If anyone gets any more information on the book that was mentioned (you know, the one with the ballhoggedly Paul Pierce taking up all that cover space and not sharing), please forward it to me if possible. Sounds like my kind of tome.

There's more to say (you know what I'm talking about), but I've already sent my emails to Paul Moriarty, so what good would it do? He'll handle it as he sees fit. He doesn't always read the list, though, so if you want to him to know something, you've got to tell him.
