Re: more pack journalism

Even if that premise is correct, I don't see the point in bringing it up. It is obvious that the majority of NBA players are black nowadays. You are stating the obvious. Most hockey players are white. But when people talk about hockey, they don't differentiate between black and white players. They just talk about hockey.

The racist tones to your comments were not that you said African players dominate the game here. It's that you brought it up at all when it is such an obvious fact. There was really no point in making the comment. Because you did, it appears to be racist. I'm not saying that was your intent, but it is definately the tone that I picked up on as well.

Doesn't this border on racist crap. Aren't white players considered more

First, I'm not sure why noting a difference between athletes of different races
is considered racist. People of West African descent have been shown to have
superior speed-strength both by studies and the results of sporting events in
which speed-strength plays a crucial role (e.g. 100 m sprint). This confers a
significant advantage in basketball.
It's also not unreasonable to think that in a sport like basketball, that
requires a multitude of skills and abilities, one has to make up a lack of
ability in one area by being better in another - if one wants to be as good a
basketball player as someone who is superior athletically.
What I am suggesting is that white American players, for the most part, are NOT
making up that difference. Thus, in the NBA most end up as BWS or decent
backups. While black NBA stars usually can get by the international competition
due to their athleticism, their white counterparts typically don't have that
luxury.
Who on such a team would scare the better international teams? Wally? Lafrentz?
The Barry brothers? The 40-year-old Stockton? The out-of-control "White
Chocolate"? It goes down from there.

My general point is that we're relying on the superior athleticism of the black
players to win against these teams, not on playing superior basketball, and it
will eventually not be enough, not even with Shaq, Kobe et al.
