Re: Mark's got points

First, Houston was 2-6 in the fourth. The Celtics would be thrilled if
their team shot 33% from the field.

Second, I don't suggest that you're into bashing Pierce, only that you're
holding him accountable, which so few in Boston care to do, especially the
media. Notice how they go to PP for quotes on the last game's defense, and
he blames the whole team, but he's quick to take credit for "stepping up" in
the fourth quarter. Hey, call it my shtick, but when the guy plays a
balanced game and doesn't "help" the opposition's scorer carry the game
right up until the last minute, I'll be AMONG the first to give him his due.

Do you ever notice how Paul plays? He loves to get points, but what he
REALLY loves is to take on the best guy on the opposition and end up with
the upper hand. I'll be glad to point it out to you in the coming season,
Joe. It's not just the challenge of the the Celts vs. Whomever, it's PP's
own little challenge. He seems to let the other team into the game just so
that there's a dramatic ending, with him holding the sword.

Is that Shtick? I firmly believe it, and it's not a Bird-'Nique standoff,
but a regular, contrived event. I'll keep you posted on it. Meanwhile,
feel free to bash me at will, for "obsessing" on the ego of a guy who
couldn't care less if the Celts win, as long as he's on the national (or
international) stage. Just ask him.

Lance, basically I think you are nuts (when it comes to
your Pierce obsession). Count me out of that.

I said Pierce "helped" let Houston go for nearly 40. I
made note of who was guarding him (for obvious reasons
given that he was the only guy killing us). You should
have too. I just don't understand.

Anytime you use a game like that as an occasion to bash
Pierce, it'll comes across as a nutty obsession.

Pierce got the assignment back in the fourth quarter, and
he held Houston to 2 points. He made plays. He denied the
ball. Shooting guards will score in this league, which
doesn't hurt in fueling an obsession. How amazing is it
to you that these guys tend to lead the team in scoring?
We've had Jalen, Stack+MJ and then Houston. You can't let
NBA 2-guards get hot (because its ridiculous how
unstoppable their talent allows them to be), but Pierce
wasn't the main guy getting burned.

Sometimes, I don't know if all this is meant as self-
parody, tongue-in-cheek stuff. You go out of your way to
be unconvincing.

I like reading your posts. But maybe work on your timing,
unless the aim is to sound obsessive. I think you know
more about basketball than I do. More importantly, its
obvious that you are a Celtics fan in the end, which I
appreciate.

But the whole Pierce thing...feel free to keep it up if
you want. It certainly doesn't bother me. But count me
out of the weird Kansas-bashing, Pierce-bashing,
gratuitous list-member insulting stuff. Let that be your
own shtick.

Joe H.
