Re: Thoughts on Laker win

I agree. The level of competition in the NBA does suck. The Lakers are
where they are because they have the money, and, they have one of the few
competent management teams.

Look at it this way: Excluding San Antonio's win in the lockout year, what
was the last NBA champion NOT to win at least two in a row? You've got to
go back to the 1980s(!) to get a non-repeating Champion. My foggy memory
says it's the answer is the 1986 Boston Celtics!!!!!! (working backwards:
Lakers for three (2000-02), aberation San Antonio(1999), Bulls for three
(1996-98), Rockets for two (94-95), Bulls for three (91-93), Detroit for two
(89-90), Lakers for two (87-88). I may be wrong (I'm not sure about the
87-90 timeframe), but this shows that it's an aberation NOT to win
back-to-back titles, and that 3 titles in a row is not unusual.

The Lakers are the best team in the NBA, and have good management, but let
them win 5 or 6 in a row before talking about dynasty. OUR best hope is
that this season was the foretaste of a great Celtics run in response,
hopefully cutting the "Laker dynasty" off at its knees.
