Oh please.... Some of these sites don't know their a*se from their elbow. Some
can't even tell a prohormone (Androstenedione, which is legal) from real
anabolic steroids (AS from now on), which are now illegal in the States, but
legal in some other countries, such Mexico and Thailand, and "semi-legal" in
Canada. In any case, if pencilneck journalists think Mark McGwire got big on
Androstenedione, it just goes to show how clueless they are, pontificating on
topics they know nothing about. The only thing you can get from Androstenedione
is fat and gynecomastia ("bitch tits"). It aromatizes to estrogens very
efficiently, and its anabolic properties have been shown to be basically nil.
If MM got huge on Androstenedione, then Arnold (or any other current pro
bodybuilder) got huge on potato chips. MM gave them a legit (but completely
misleading) explanation for his size and performance gains, and the silly media
hounds ate it up.

As for the side effects, sure, they exist, if you stupidly use massive
quantities of AS, especially orally. You also get terrible, sometimes deadly,
side effects, if you ingest massive quantities of aspirin, tylenol, most
vitamins, most 'healing' herbs, alcohol, filet mignon, chocolate chip cookies
etc. etc., not to mention prescription drugs.

Come on, people, get off your high horse. If you still believe clean, wholesome
American athletes are cheated out of their medals or home-run titles by evil,
cheating 'furriners' or an occasional bad apple of the Statesian persuasion...
well, I'm sorry to disabuse you of that silly notion. The overwhelming
majority of high-level athletes use some sort of chemical enhancement, if their
chosen sport can be helped by it at all. They have used them for decades and
will continue to use them. If people on this list could take a drug that would
make them a lot better at what they do, and possibly propel them to the top of
their career, how many would be able to resist?

As for AS, if people on this list, especially men, could safely and
inexpensively enhance their appearance and strength by getting leaner and more
muscular, how many would do it? AS, when used prudently, are no more evil or
harmful than alcohol, and have more beneficial health effects. (It's not
because of homophobia or eugenic beliefs that doctors prescribe them to
patients wasting from AIDS or muscular dystrophy). They're a LOT less harmfull
than smoking, and are only illegal because the steroid lobby doesn't have the
same 'pull' as the tobacco lobby.

In conclusion, if Toine and Paul or whoever else on the Celtics want to get
stronger and aid their recovery from a body-wasting 90+ game season, I'm all
for Dr. Scheller prescribing them a little something. We'll all benefit from it
- except for our opponents, of course.
