Re: Missed trade: Baker to NY

I don't believe it. Not to question you Roy, but the NY Times.

Baker for Spree and the injury exception? And the Celtics BT turned that
down? The Knicks must have wanted a lot more then just Baker.

Spree and a lower $ and shorter contract for Vin Baker? In a heart beat.
And I like Baker. But really.

There is more to this then being published here.

As reported by Enrile, Roy:

The NY times had reported that one of the teams the Knicks were talking
to about their 4.5 mill injury exemption(Mcdyess) was the C's. Spree +
the money for Baker.

It would have been pretty bad news for Vin because I think his best
chance of being accepted and doing well is here with Obrien and Walker.
Antoine is so impressive as our half court point guard now, setting up
plays for others, and picking his own spots for scoring more carefully
than previous years.

By the allstar break I think Antoine and Paul's FG will go up, the team
will get more used to Vin, space the floor for him, and finally run
plays to feed him in the post. Papile was right, a player like Baker
doesn't turn terrible after one summer, his numbers are down because the
team isn't going to him yet.

Don't worry, the Sixers just made some unusual shots from Snow/Coleman
in the final minutes last night. The C's have been making a habit of
putting close ones like this away.
