I half-expected another loss to Chicago and really wonder if we aren't flirting with the idea of escaping the 3/6 dogfight with the 76ers.  We certainly don't match up well with their big guys.  Still, I think our chances in the playoffs depend on what style of play we revert to--is our default setting on rugged defense and team offense or do we let the captains shoot over 50% of our shots with no governor on the threes?  I think I could rig a defense to stop the latter:  let Walker and Strickland fire at will and stop Pierce's driving.  Still, we tend to "get it" when it's time so I hope the playoffs cause us to play team ball again.

  But I hope it's not Philly.  Clear of them, we can win the East.  If there's a single cause as to why my optimism has turned to ambivalence, check last night's stat sheet.   Gene
