You know, earlier today I read a post to this list that said, "The Melonhead
reference is not used in a racist way though there are some on the list that
have a reverse racism bent and see everything that way.  "

I thought to myself, "what a moron."  But then I remembered, sometimes
reasonably intelligent people say or do moronic things.

And if you want to know why it was a moronic statement, it's because the
terms that were being used "melon" and "boy" have very specific racial
overtones.  And the people who objected to their use didn't make any rash
accusations, they simply asked if people would please find other terms to
use that don't have those kinds of connotations.

I'm not trying to start a whole racial debate here, I'm just saying that I
won't be drawing any conclusions about your overall intelligence just
because you made a statement that seemed pretty moronic to me.  I'm with
Alex on this, as usual.  Let's stick to commenting on players' basketball
smarts and leave the "moron" stuff out of it.
