Hey Joe. Yes, can we please talk about this for a second, eschewing
the untimely discussion of draft picks for the briefest of moments?
Paul Pierce is lighting up the league, so much so that they _had_ to
give him the POW award, even though he deserved it the week before,
as well. In the one game he didn't score at least 37 in the last
(what?) eight games or so was a 14 pt, 12 reb, 7 asst game. The man
is on fire. He has, truly, "unleashed the dragon" against opponents.

And that's just the statistics. In a purely aesthetic or
methodological sense, Paul Pierce can get to any spot on the court he
wishes to shoot from. He merely blows by his defender. And if the
defender is playing him well, he shoots over him with an effortless
jump shot. All of this is done with what looks like amazing
quickness on the court. I don't think, right now, that there is a
defender in the league that could shut him down. Don't think it's
possible right now. Wow. Imagine, for a moment, what it is going to
be like, next season, with Pierce able to lift. Barring injury, Paul
Pierce could be the best swingman-type in the league next year.
(N.B. "could be").

Well, back to the regularly scheduled draft talk, I guess. Should
the team tank the season and get that all-important tenth pick?
Oooh, I'm all a-tingle with anticipation. Playoff race? _What_
playoff race?

Regards,

Bill
