"What you see is what you get."

Title: "What you see is what you get."

I am a bit depressed today over the Peter May column in this AM's "Globe."
Peter quoted Wallace in very strong terms, that we were not going after any
free agents, that 4.5 million couldn't be spent without risking the luxury tax.
Knowing that we have a roster of only 3 NBA starters, makes me shudder.
Pierce
Walker
Battie
On the bench:
Eric Williams
Potapenko
On the beach:
Walter McCarty
Beyond these 6 we have two disabled point guards:
Anderson
Brown
Then to fill the 14 signed spots we have three end of bench second year
players:
Palacio
Blount
Moiso
   And 3 rookies:
Brown
Johnson
Forte
Now how in the world does this team improve? Sure the rookies could light a
fire, but with Walker and Pierce taking 80% of the shots, it ain't likely.
The best we can hope for is that Moiso shows some fire and the rookies show
steady progress and promise; that next year or the year after, if we can fix the
problems at point guard and center, we could become formidable again.
Hopefully the talk of not signing a free agent is a bit of a smokescreen, just
like the talk of resigning Stith. The only value Stith could have for us is to
sign and trade for a board banger that we desperately need, just to be
respectable.
While we aren't going to spend the 4.5 million exception on a quality free
agent, we can use a portion of that money to sign a cheaper one, who might
still fill that rebounding need. What about Gary Trent?
