Re: Did we miss a golden opportunity?

I can't disagree with anything you've said here. Unless... K. Brown or
Forte turn into superstars in the next couple years.

I expected more "something" from KB after all the intrigue that went on with
his selection. I'm not saying he isn't a good prospect and drafting BPA
isn't the long-term best idea, but it does seem like a couple needs could
have been addressed with very good prospects.

I know you can't teach height and I personally don't think you can teach PG
either. At this level you either are or your "not quite". I think you can
improve/teach mechanics like shooting, setting picks, blocking out, each to
a degree of course.

But the decision making process of being a PG at NBA speed and talent level
I don't think you can really teach. You could teach what options have the
most probability of success against a specific competitor of course, but I
think at this level the true PG's/PF's (point forwards) just see the game
differently then others. Like a great rebounder knows where the ball will
end up as it leaves the shooters hand, the PG "knows" where everyone is and
who/what has the highest probability of scoring while thinking two or three
passes ahead of where other players even know where they will be to make the
pass or shoot the ball.

Considering how few "great" PG's are in the NBA today, it does seem
surprising they passed on the two PG's.

I find it hard to believe that the Celtics drafted K.Brown to have him play
6th man during his career. They had to expect JJ to be a player of some
talent. Something must be being planed with three lottery picks for two
starting roles.

Any guesses as to what the brain trust is up to?
