Now this one's a bit harder. I hate to be a Grinch
and all, but my obsession is with a "true" point guard
to run the offense.
During draft season, I was touting Tinsley. During
the free agent "rush," it was Jacques Vaughn. Both of
them are gone now.
I keep mentioning Khalid, because he's available,
playing in the developmental league and I saw at
Shaw's how much of an upgrade he is over Palacio and
how well he involved Forte and Joe Johnson.Unlike our
two backups, Milt and Erick (or our third back up,
Randy, who can't run at all), he can run and pass, at
the same time, .
Just let the C's bring in a point guard who runs the
fllor, advances the ball, and finds the open man.He
needs to play some defense, but if he can hit the open
jumper, it's a bonus.Then, I'll shut up about Khalid.

I'd love to see us get a center, no doubt, but I
have no hope that Gaston will spend the money. Even if
he would, we only have a small portion of our cap
ecxeption left. Without an under the cap team being
involved,in some kind of deal/sign and trade, we can't
sign a Mark Jackson or Oldyn Polynice, the most
prominent free agents.
There is always the possibilty that we could trade
one of our centers and a draft pick/rookie and cap
fodder, but how many centers are out there that would
really help us? I'd still love to see Dale Davis
walking through that door, but my proposal is a lot
cheaper and easier to pull off.A band-aid, perhaps,
but like Josh, I think with just a bit of tinkering,
we can stay right in the thick of the Eastern
conference war.
You say we have 4 back up point guards? Then why is
Anderson at 30, with 40 year old knees, being asked to
play 35-40 minutes? This can not last. We need another
distributor and the team needs to play like a team. As
well as Paul played, forcing shots, most nights, will
not get it done. It's not my fault that we signed two
free agent shooting guards and drafted three others.
Time to cut bait and build a balanced roster, if we
want to compete this season.
