Re: Moiso

Alex,

I understand what you're saying about Moiso, but let's face it. In the NBA,
in-season practices are dedicated to preparation for the next game. I doubt
they spent much time really working with Moiso when they didn't plan to play
him in the games. Sure, he worked on individual skills, but I'd be willing
to bet he didn't get much coaching in game situations in those practices
(except as a body in there in scrimmage situations--again, rare in the NBA
grind). Can they learn anything in two games? Maybe not, but I'd think even
the coaches would be interested to see how he responds to 30 minutes of game
action. Even if it is a limited sample. As for McCarty, if teams are willing
to value two "showcase" games at the end of the season and suddenly
disregard the last three seasons, then GMs out there are dumber than I
thought. He may be moveable because he's 6-10 and has an expiring contract,
but it won't be because he shows something in two meaningless games at the
end of the season. O'Brien has been around McCarty from Day 1 at Kentucky.
He knows exactly what Walter can and can't do. I just think it's a wasted
opportunity to start to learn about Moiso.
