According to a boston.com story, the NBA's lawyers will not let the league
announce medical conditions of players unless the players ok the release.
Something about some guy I've never heard of, a Reggie Leonard...Lewell,..
no maybe it was Lewis.  That sounds right.  Anyway, they're afraid of
getting sued, so the player has to ok any medical releases, and apparently
Pierce and family have not done so.

This does not involve injuries sustained in NBA sanctioned games, etc.
Details of those can be freely released to the press.
