Good point, Jim. In the Chicago win, Eric Williams did a simple
upfake at one point under the basket which worked beautifully.
It's such an easy move, such a no-brainer, yet none of these guys
*ever* use it!! (well, Pierce does occasionally).
Particularly Antoine - think of all the one on three in the paint
moves he tries -- an upfake would help him at least pick up a
foul instead of a charge. Bird, of course, did this all the time.
It seems like a fundamental to me, and one that Pitino should
demand of his players under the basket (similar to at least 3 passes
before a shot -- at least one upfake).

I tuned into the final minute of the Hawks game, long enough
to hear that we were down by 3 or so and then "Antoine this,
Antoine that, Antoine the other thing, Antoine off-balance shot -
no good, rebound Atlanta. I don't care if he scores 32 points.
He's got to realize that he's not good enough to be the go-to
guy. He's a very good player, but not great enough to be
the man. When push comes to shove, he overestimates
himself and won't pass.

I'm thrilled we landed Chris Herren. I drafted him for the Cs
in the Usenet mock draft a few years ago (they don't have
a real second round, so we ended up picking in the 30 range)
and wished mightily that we had swung a real draft day deal to
get him. It's so validating to watch him play real ball and to
see the huge difference it makes to our team.

(an aside: when Herren was in against Chicago, Antoine
took the ball up himself several times, pointedly ignoring
Herren. I think the Cs nice run in that game came not
only with Anderson on the bench, but also Antoine.)

I liked that Pitino played Herren at the 2 occasionally - this
will help him get the minutes when both Anderson and Brown
are healthy. Whoever mentioned Philly being interested in
Anderson, wouldn't that be nice - but how do you think KA
would enjoy playing with Iverson? (!not)

Blount is a keeper. I agree with those who think he should
start and V should come off the bench. Here's the lineup I'd like:
Starting: Blount, Battie, Walker, Pierce, Herren
Bench: V, Moiso, Williams, Stith, Brown
(wherever/whenever: Anderson, Griffen)

forget McCarty - like everyone else, I wonder why he is
in a Cs uniform.

If Corey Benjamin is available from the Bulls, get him!!

The funniest comment about Mike Gorman I heard was
Tommy H saying that someone came up to him and
said Gorman had gone into the witness protection program.

Things seem better this year, don't they?
