RE: the latest from Katz...

Forget the 90s, what about Bill Walton? Zydrunas Ilgauskas? Vlade Divac?
Arvydas Sabonis? Jack Sikma? Tom Gugliotta? Keith Van Horn? Christian
Lettner? Hell, Vitaly Potapenko would be a good 11th pick in most drafts.
Even Greg Ostertag. If things go the way it seems, there isn't going to be a
DerMarr Johnson or Courtney Alexander there. Are you excited about Keyon
Dooling or Jerome Moiso? I can't for the life of me figure out why so many
hope we end up with Alexander. We're a terrible defensive team with selfish
tendencies. And we want to add a no-defense, selfish gunner? The only reason
I hope he falls to 11 is as trade bait, so some other team can make the
mistake.

We're looking for the best player, not the best scorer. There's a
difference. This team needs an interior presence, defense, shot-blocking,
and a mean streak. We don't need another me-first shooter (Alexander,
Johnson) or tweener guard (Dooling, Crawford) or unmotivated forward
(Moiso). I don't care if the guy is black or white, as long as he can anchor
our interior defense, cover for our terrible defenders at the other
positions (we've gone offense over defense too much already), and move
Vitaly into the role he shold play-backup C/PF.

I cordially disagree. Was it Ray that put out a list of all the
PF/C white
guys drafted in the 90s? Only 3 still are worth having now
	(Croshere/Harpring/forget the 3rd). Take that one more. I can't
think of
even one white seven footer that has done anything in the NBA that
merits a
	pick at #11 or better.

My dream slider is Demarr Johnson but I think he'll be gone, perhaps
	Alexander.
