F Elton Brand said his best memory during All-Star
weekend was spending time with Boston Celtics
legend Bill Russell. "He was just in the (hotel)
lobby," Brand said. "I saw him and we were
talking. Then every time since then, he had jokes
for me and things like that. He's one of the best
players ever, and just to be around him was
great." Brand helped tag a loss on Russell during
the rookie game Saturday. Brand was named game MVP
with 16 points and 21 rebounds as the rookies beat
the sophomores 92-83 in overtime. Russell was one
of the coaches for the sophomore squad.
