Pitino has always given credit to Chris Wallace, praising him for his work
as GM. It's not like he takes credit for the good moves and passes blame
for the bad ones. The one exception is that Pitino said that he made the
decision to draft Mercer, overruling some people who didn't want to.
Who did they want, I wonder? McGrady? Anyway, my point is that Pitino's
not being inconsistent when he says that Wallace has a large say in personnel
decisions. He's given him credit for trades that he described as "our best
moves" such as Potapenko and Battie.

I mean, is he really trying to weasel out of blame when he says that
the decisions are made by "Chris Wallace, his staff, and myself"?
It's not like he's not in that list. You almost make it sound like
he just said, "Wallace and his staff" without including himself.
