Anyone catch Barkley's take at halftime on TNT during the Lakers/Blazer's
show.

Quote: "The Celtics aren't very good.  I thought Walker would be one of the
best power forwards in the game now.  Pierce could be one of the better
small forwards.  That's all they have though."

Kenny Smith: "If you play the press in the NBA, good guards will beat the
press everytime.  And if you do play the press, you have to have the talent
and the Celtics don't have that."

More on the press from kenny: "When the guards beat the press then the rest
of the team has to help and recover and this leads to easy shots and
inferior rebounding by the Celtics because they are always trying to recover
when the press is beaten.  So the system doesn't work without the right
talent".

Barkley:"Like I said, Kenny, they aren't very good.  They have a couple of
good players though so they are only a couple of players away from being
very good: Bird, McHale, Parish....."

Host,Smith,Barkley: (Laughter).


This will be the game that is the nail in the coffin for Pitino - he has now
made up his mind to leave.

For the record, I believe his defensive scheme is partly to blame and he
doesn't have the necessary athleticism to play the trap.  His best trap
players aren't very good offensive players and his best offensive players
are terrible trap players.  But Rick has had COMPLETE control and if you are
going to live and die by the press you would have NEVER traded for V.

I think this current squad would actually have a better record under a
Cowens or even a Del Harris or someone like that.

I think the board can almost focus on the draft and who the next coach will
be.  Homers might say it was only one game but it was more than one game.
