Re: Informal survey: two questions -Reply

#1 The only player I would seek to trade is Kenny Anderson, and only if
it somehow nets a veteran player who is a better fit at lead guard for this
team. I'll leave the speculation about which players could supply
much-coveted unselfish play at the point to Warwick and other list
trade-"experts."

However, I'm inclined to agree with Dorine et al. who have correctly
pointed out that another off-season of wholesale roster overhauling
would have a detrimental effect on overall team chemistry. That said,
Anderson should be moved for two reasons: first, his style of play
[shoot first, matador defense] isn't conducive to team needs; second, his
presence on the floor doesn't seem to improve team chemistry--for
proof, witness the Celtics' late-season inspired play. It's no coincidence
that players began to gel--and began to unselfishly make the extra
pass--when KA wasn't on the floor. So removing Anderson from the
team shouldn't adversely affect team chemistry...it's already poor with
him in the lineup!

#2 I think that Potapenko is definitely an upgrade over DeClerq, both from
a size and talent perspective. However, since I just watched a hobbled
Ewing score 27 and pull down 19 boards [including 9 in the first quarter]
on one leg last night, I'm hardly ready to anoint Vitaly as a first-tier starter
in the pivot.

Despite the widespread list belief that this is a weak draft, one thing that
it appears to be rich in is point guards. Also, Richard Hamilton apparently
is on the verge of declaring his eligibility for the NBA draft. While I
certainly would not advocate the C's taking another swing player [plus, I
don't happen to like his game], he will probably go in the first few picks,
thereby pushing other players down to where the Celtics could select
them...if they only had their pick. Outside of the first eight players [or so],
there likely isn't anyone in the draft who would upgrade the team. IMHO,
Wayne Turner's shooting is pathetic. I'd like to see him try to penetrate
against guys who won't play up close on him because they don't respect
his shot.

Just my two cents.
