It's weird that sports journalists aren't held up to the same editorial rigors of other news sections, at least in the major newspapers. I guess there's too much of a chummy fraterity between editors and writers. Or maybe editors aren't trained to edit (they are just ex-sportswriters for example). Or maybe because sports beat writers tend to file on last second deadlines after games. -------
