"Don Nelson isn't talking about the forthcoming signings of Gary Trent and
Cedric Ceballos, but the Mavericks' coach-general manager will concede that
the club still has a serious need for a bruising backup to center Shawn
Bradley.

Samaki Walker's free-agent defection to San Antonio further weakens a
low-post corps filled with question marks. A.C. Green is a 35-year-old free
agent expected to sign with a playoff contender, and Hot Rod Williams, at age
36, made almost no contribution last season.

In addition, Australian center Chris Anstey has seemingly fallen out of a
favor after a heated confrontation during a summer-league game with Mavericks
assistant coach Donnie Nelson. Upon returning from China this week, Don
Nelson said he already rates second-round pick Wang Zhizhi ahead of Anstey.

With his only available salary-cap exception used on Trent, Nelson will have
to make a trade to address the absence of a veteran banger behind Bradley.
Nelson has been openly - and unsuccessfully - shopping guards Robert Pack and
Erick Strickland."
