The more I thought about this last night, that's exactly what I thought.  
Wasn't the whole point of the LBE just to make sure Bird wouldn't leave 
the Celtics to earn more somewhere else?  There was no reason to make 
the exception unlimited in the first place.  The problem is, how do you 
put the genie back in the bottle?
