Tough loss for the Celtics, no question.

1. In his press conference, Pitino made some very frank
statements. He says that the Celtics "are back to square one w/o
Kenny Anderson", and plans to rest him for perhaps the next three
games. He also conceded that "the playoffs are perhaps not
makeable at this point".

2. I agree with Pitino in that the Celtics are a different team
with Anderson than without. Heinsohn said tonight that "with
Kenny, the Celts have an offense". And Pitino added that "the
team isn't running the kind of offense I'd like to see them run
-- 6 or 7 passes in 10 seconds".

3. The reffing tonight was, to quote Johnny Most, putrid. How
do you not call a technical at the end of the game? If Knight
makes the free throw, then they need a trey to tie it. Huge
non-call, I'm surprised Pitino didn't blow a fuse in protesting.

4. Did you see Rick Mahorn lay a huge hack on Bruce Bowen
tonight? Nothing like old time Piston Basketball. In the
pregame, they showed some old Bill Laimbrain clips. My favorite
was watching Parish beat the %## out of Laimbeer. Laimbeer was a
gutless, whiny, and dirty ballplayer that thankfully is no longer
playing anymore.

Off now for 3 on the road. The team is still fun to watch, and
growing. The winning will come someday.
